Media Ray (formerly Rayzordoll), has been experimenting with analogue and digital media as art for 15 years & counting. An avid collector of video & film technology, she brings this fusion to her visual performance. She loves to tell a story, & uses originally devised media, sprinkled with found footage and live-cam. All bound together with effective machine control. Visually, she has a colourful and quirky cut and paste style, that has a sense of fun and a kiwi flavour. Fruity, flirty and humorous....
Media Ray also creates custom visuals for events and enjoys the opportunity to contribute to the overall theme of an event. Video mapping is also in her box of tricks. And she has made some great contributions to stage design at events as a result. She has recently VJ'd for visiting overseas artists: Maribou State (UK), Romare (UK), UZ (France) and Ty Dolla $ign (US). She is also an integral part of the visual force behind Wellington bush doof event, Taniwhas Den and its sister event Techno a Gogo. And as a video artist and VJ has worked with the promoters to create inventive stage design for a couple of Wellington 121 parties. A VJ highlight so far has been video mixing for Alex Paterson from the Orb, for his DJ set at Meow, Wellington in 2014.
Media Ray can also produce visuals and video mapping design for corporate and community events. She has recently worked with Xero, mapping circus themed visuals for their annual staff party. And also works with Wellington-based Kaibosh Food Rescue, creating custom visuals, and video mapping stage design for their annual art auction fundraiser.
